Review: Creative #1 Palette from Coastal Scents

I can't believe how far behind I've fallen. I bought this palette back in the fall. Tsk tsk on me. But better late than never...right? The palette above is from Coastal Scents. I heard of Coastal Scents from Xsparkage's blog last year and became intrigued. It's great cosmetics for a decent price. And with all the Urban Decay I buy...its evens out...kinda :P

Look below to see my swatches (they are swatches without primer)

This is one of my favorite palette's I own. The colors are matte with vibrant hues. I LOVE insanely pigmented colors and as you can see... I usually stay away from mattes, they can be more difficult to blend but Coastal Scents' eye shadows don't follow that rule. The Creative #1 Palette cost be around $18, which if you split per color...that is like $1.50 each. CHEAP! I thoroughly enjoy this palette. It was a good starting point or mid starting point. It has most of the basic colors in the rainbow to play around with.

I honestly adore this company and encourage you to check them out. I posted the link below. They generally have some type of sale going on which is nice in this shitty economy. Just wait til I purchase the 88 palette. Think of all the swatches!

Your Villain My Hero

So this is a different kind of post for me. Below I have the new video the band Your Villain My Hero. It's called "I Don't Need a Boyfriend" Check it out, its a great first single. I mean you can't wrong with good vocals and strong beat can you?

I don't normally post music videos by well...anyone, but I felt this was special occasion. My first real and favorite ;) client, Marlena, referred me and I did the (eye) makeup for Jennifer and Betina in the scene where its just the 2 of them. They hired me for their reshoot back in January. They look absolutely killer in the video! Go and see them perform around the Chicago-land area.

some fun with inspiration

So I was organizing and moving things around on my macbaby and found some pictures I never did anything with. Below I recreated Rihanna's look in her video "Hard", a quick wearing look inspired from Avatar and the first masquerade mask I made with only 3 products.

Introducing...Kryolan!

I had bought these items over a month ago and finally having a chance to review them.

Kryolan is a professional makeup brand and this company is wicked. They're colors are wet based makeup. What does that mean? It means you add JUST a drop of water into the palette and the color disperses. It reminds me of water colors and thats just what they look like.

First, as you can see is Kyrolan's White and Black---simply called that, no fancy name. They are officially my new favorite bases. And with a base it makes any color so much more pigmented and the durability for extended time. I have had a few white eyeliners/bases/shadows but nothing compares the white here. I love it! It's pure pure pure white like I've never seen. AMAZING! The black is just as good. One drop of water gives you enough of the color to blend on your lids. I imagine this lasting for a long time. Only cost $8.50 each on @shrinkle's page on ebay.

The palette below which is the UV colors glow under a black light and are insanely neon. I haven't seen anything like it and I loooooooove. These colors are not for everyone and some would say not everyday, but I say YES YES YES. It cost about $30 from @shrinkle on ebay. These colors are used mainly for bodypainting. Doesn't really smudge and so easy to remove. Just a cloth with water removes it.
