I have been getting terrible on timing my interview posting. I was great when this started. Oopsie! I interviewed Helen of Just Nice Things. Read her blog HERE and check out her interview me HERE
1. What made you start blogging?
I have always loved to write and I was finding myself increasingly disillusioned with my job and in dire need of a hobby. At the same time, I was also buying a lot of nail varnish and really enjoying reading about it on American nail blogs. I was totally addicted to what these ladies were writing about and decided that there was a gap in the market for a UK nail blog. I then asked my friend Sheenie if she wanted to come in on the project with me. Sheenie is a very accomplished make-up artist and so together we hoped we could create an interesting blog.
2. Where does the name come from?
When we started, back in 2009, the blog was known as Helen & Sheenie’s Nice Things. We upgraded to our domain in 2010, and decided that was a bit of a mouthful so it got shortened to Just Nice Things.
3. How is it having 2 people run the blog instead of 1?
Great. There is always someone there to bounce ideas off and to share in the HTML headaches. Also, it means we can cover the ground twice as fast and also there is always someone who can deputise if one of us is away or can’t make an event etc. It’s nice to be able to provide a change of voice and opinion as well.
4. What's your favorite thing to blog about?
Nail varnish. New collections, especially the OPI ones – they get me really excited as OPI really was my first love.
5. How do you spend your free time?
What free time? In between working a 12 hour day, blogging for a couple of hours a day and then painting my nails, it doesn’t really leave a lot of free time. But I do love to cook, watch films with my husband and I am something of a Twitter addict (@HelenNiceThings)
6. What 3 products do you bring on a desserted island?
Suncream, TIGI After Party Smoothing Cream (the best hair product ever) and OPI Pompeii Purple nail varnish to keep my toenails perfectly polished.
7. Vampires or faeries?
Vampires. Although not on my tv – enough already.
